Ling pleased to end away-day blues

Sun 17 Feb, 03:15 PM

Martin Ling expressed his satisfaction after a first away win in nearly three months kept Leyton Orient in touch with the play-off places.Jabo Ibehre hit the winner in the 25th minute, blasting in off the crossbar from eight yards after Sol Davis had only half cleared Paul Terry's cross.

"Not having won since November had been disappointing," said Ling. "Thankfully we have broken the back of that now and it was an imperative result because it keeps us talking about the top six rather than looking at mid-table."

"I think if you said it was a dogged 1-0 win that would pretty much sum up the game. There weren't a lot of chances but I thought we created the better ones.

"We've had a few bad results on the road of late and we had a very young back four out there against Luton, but I was pleased with our defensive play.

"1-0 wins are important in this league and we have not had enough of them. We've not been able to get our noses in front but to do that and to hold on for the win, I am very proud of the lads."
