Mixed emotions after Robins draw

Sun 17 Feb, 03:00 PM

Hartlepool manager Danny Wilson was left frustrated after a 1-1 draw at Cheltenham on a mixed afternoon for goalkeeper Jan Budtz.Budtz was both hero and villain as Pools claimed a point at Whaddon Road, gifting a soft goal to Andy Lindegaard before making amends with a string of fine saves in the second half.

"It was a very hard game for us, obviously we made it difficult for ourselves by giving such a soft goal away," Wilson said. "First half we were massively on top of the game, great situations developed but we didn't take advantage and the soft goal gave them the lift.

"The second half was more nip and tuck, it could have gone either way so in the bigger picture I suppose we came away with a good point.

"Budtz pulled off an absolutely fantastic save that kept us in the game but I have to say he's disappointed with the first goal as we all are, because we toiled and tussled in the first half as well as they did and I felt we had the lion's share of play without putting their keeper under pressure."
