Shrewsbury manager Gary Peters backed the decision of Cheshire referee Mike Jones after his side's game with Morecambe was postponed.Jones called the game off at 2.15pm after a second match inspection with the game finally postponed because of an icy goalmouth at one end of the ground.

Peters said: "I think the referee was right but I'm annoyed that the game is off because I'm sure Morecambe could have done more to have made sure the game is on.

"We didn't even know there was an inspection until we got here and we are disappointed."

Jones defended his decision to call off Morecambe's clash with Shrewsbury at Christie Park.

Jones said: "There was 15% of the pitch I felt was unplayable and after giving the area concerned a full inspection I was left with no option."
