Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson was left to count the cost of two defensive errors after his side slumped to a 2-0 defeat at Hereford.Sherjill MacDonald and Gary Hooper gave the Bulls revenge for last month's 4-0 mauling inflicted by the Spireites at Saltergate.

"We gifted Hereford the three points due to inadequate defending," said Richardson.

"There was a key moment in the game when I thought we should have had a penalty in the first half but you cannot afford to concede goals like that.

"We had most of the possession in the second but it counts for nothing."
