Aston Villa new boy Wayne Routledge has vowed to win a longer deal at the club after signing from Tottenham in the January transfer window.
Routledge joined Villa on an 18-month deal but boss Martin O'Neill has challenged the winger to prove he deserves a longer contract and the 23-years-old is ready to repay O'Neill's faith in him.
"I know players who get a million-pound-plus transfer usually sign contracts longer than 18 months but I wasn't afraid to do that deal," Routledge told the Sunday Mirror.
"Martin O'Neill has given me a chance and I've got to show him I can repay that, then hopefully he'll want to keep me longer."
