Port Vale boss Lee Sinnott believes his side deserve credit for the "immense pride and spirit" they display in spite of their league position.Vale are without a win in seven matches and 11 points adrift at the foot of the table after the 2-0 home defeat to Swansea.
"What I am proud of is the way my players keep coming back in adversity," said Sinnott. "They have taken a lot of knocks, but they can take immense pride with the spirit they keep showing."
Vale's first-half performance against the league leaders belied their desperate plight and Sinnott's side could easily have been a couple of goals to the good at the break.
But they were made to pay for their profligacy and a rueful Sinnott said: "We were the team in the ascendancy in the first half and our biggest problem was we failed to take our chances.
"You have to strike while the iron is hot in football and when you miss chances you only have yourselves to blame."
