Luca Toni scored a second-half hat-trick to give Bayern Munich a 3-0 win at Hanover, restoring their three-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga.

Toni beat the offside trap to control a Mark van Bommel header and sweep the ball past Robert Enke on the turn in the 58th minute.

Six minutes later the Italian was too alert for the Hanover defence once again, as he raced on to Bastian Schweinsteiger's pass and finished calmly.

Toni completed the hat-trick by heading over Enke after the unfortunate keeper had saved a shot with his legs, only to see the rebound go straight back to the striker.

Hamburg won in the league for the first time since November as they made light of the absence of Dutch playmaker Rafael van der Vaart.

Ivica Olic gave them the lead five minutes before the break with a neat finish.

In the second half David Jarolim made sure by tapping in the second on the rebound and side-footing in the third from 10 metres.
