Players to blame for McCarthy axe - O'Hara

Wolves playmaker Jamie O'Hara insists the players have to shoulder the blame for Mick McCarthy's sacking as the search continues for his replacement.

Former Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is set to be interviewed by club owner Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey after Alan Curbishley was spoken to yesterday by the duo.

But O'Hara's thoughts are still with McCarthy who was sacked on Monday after a five-and-a-half-year spell at Molineux. The former Tottenham player said: "It was difficult to see the gaffer leave and the lads were gutted to see him go.

"It's been us who have been putting in the bad performances. He'd done a lot of the club.

"I've only been here a short time but I loved working for him and think he is a fantastic manager.

"I just hope everyone remembers what he achieved at the club. It was hard to see him go and I would wish him all the best. I am sure he will go on and do another great job somewhere else."

  1. Jamie, if Sundays performance was an indication of your support for Mick then you should be ashamed of yourself. I am not a Mick fan by any means but how can you say that you and the team were backing Mick and put in a performance like that?? A performance that will Wolves will never live down 5 - 1 at home against Sandwell Town is just about as bad as it could possibly be and you have the neck to say that you all supported him. It is a joke.

  2. If Mick was a great manager Jamie, why was the team so useless and why were the players not up for the game on Sunday??? You and the rest of the players have had it too easy mate Mick had his favourites and it has virtually ruined the season. The best thing you can do now is get that team performing and at least show some heart , and fight for the club and supporters paying your wages. The attitude of the players on Sunday did not give the impression that they were supporting Mick.

  3. He may have been a great bloke mate but his record was abysmal since coming into the prem.
It has to be said, the players did not know their jobs, there was no organisation, players were played out of position simply because Mick had no confidence in the natural replacements. Doyle was useless. A striker scoring 2 goals in 23 games should not be played. etc etc
