Mon 17 Mar, 05:45 PM

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on Middlesbrough and their boss Gareth Southgate after their showing in Saturday's 1-1 draw.Wenger believes Boro can become a top-eight force in the Premier league, providing they avoid the drop this season, and even claimed Southgate has the potential to become the next England manager.

"I am convinced that they will find a way out of trouble and that if they survive this season they will push on to become a dangerous side next year, perhaps in the top eight of the league," he told the club's official website.

"Gareth Southgate has been mentioned as a possible future England manager and I think it is possible.

"He is learning his job at the moment and is dealing with the situations he faces. Of course, he started very young and that's very important.

"I also started very young and it means after a few years you have good experience."
