Moore hoping for Goodison return

Mon 17 Mar, 03:00 PM

Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore hopes skipper Ian Goodison will be fit for action against Port Vale - but insists his side can win without him.The Jamaican centre-back has missed the last two games with a knee injury he sustained in the 3-1 defeat at Oldham on March 8.

Rovers proved themselves capable of winning in his absence by beating Hartlepool 3-1 at the weekend, although Goodison could be passed fit for Thursday's visit of rock-bottom Vale.

Moore said: "Ian was close to being fit for the Hartlepool game and wanted to go on the bench.

"It was good to win without him and at least he can no longer keep chipping away at me, saying we have not won the game without him in the side."
