Ipswich striker Jon Walters is hoping to recover from a knee injury before the end of the season, according to Town physio Matt Byard.The Tractor Boys' leading scorer will undergo an operation to fix a cartilage problem this week, which Byard believes could have the forward back in action sooner than expected.

Byard told the club's official website: "We wanted to give Jon the weekend to see if the knee showed any signs of settling down but as we expected there has been no improvement.

"He is now booked in for surgery and we will have more idea of a return date after the operation.

"You are normally looking at six weeks though, which means he could be back for the last game of the season."
