West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand has revealed that dented pride forced him to line up for the Hammers during their win over Blackburn.
Ferdinand has been widely criticised of late following a number of poor displays during West Ham's recent run of three consecutive 4-0 defeats.
However, despite carrying a groin injury, Ferdinand took his place in the side for the weekend visit of Blackburn and put in an assured display during a 2-1 win.
He hopes that his performance at Upton Park will have helped to silence those who have questioned his inclusion in recent weeks and is now looking to focus his full attention on helping the club finish as high as possible in the Premier League table.
"I almost didn't play, luckily I was passed fit," said Ferdinand.
"I like to let my football do the talking. Hopefully I did that."
