Thu 17 Apr, 01:45 PM

Oldham striker Lewis Alessandra insisted he had no doubts about committing himself to the club after signing a new three-year deal. The 19-year-old has started 10 games so far this season, scoring his first senior goal in the 3-1 win against Tranmere last month.

The Academy graduate was due to be out of contract at the end of the season having only signed professional terms with the Latics last summer, but has secured his future until the end of the 2010/11 campaign.

"I've always wanted to stay and I'm delighted to sign," he told Latics World.

"I'm glad the manager has put his faith in me for three years. It's a long contract and that gives me that bit of security.

"I didn't know the length of contract they were going to offer me and obviously it's nice to know the club are backing me with a long-term deal."
