Alex boss wary of Robins threat

Thu 17 Apr, 01:30 PM

First-team coach Steve Holland has warned his Crewe Alexandra side not to take visitors Cheltenham Town lightly at the weekend. The Robins visit Gresty Road knowing a victory will virtually secure their League One safety, while Crewe will be looking to at least maintain their three-point gap above Gillingham and the relegation zone.

Holland knows all about Cheltenham's firepower having tried to sign Robins striker Damian Spencer in January.

"Cheltenham do have some very good players and with Steven Gillespie have someone who can turn a match in their favour," Holland told the club's official website.

"They have enough firepower and when Steve Brooker was there on loan from Bristol City they arguably had more than us at the time.

"We also tried to sign Damian Spencer in January. Althought he is not prolific in terms of goals, we thought he would have provided that physical presence up there. It was a shame things didn't work out because he is a good player."
