Gnakpa contract talks on hold

Thu 17 Apr, 03:15 PM

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has admitted that contract talks with right-back Claude Gnakpa have broken down.Gnakpa is the only member of the Posh squad to be out of contract in the summer but despite wanting to keep hold of the defender Ferguson has admitted sealing promotion with a win at Hereford is all that matters.

He said: "We have so far failed to agree terms with Claude which is disappointing because he's had a good season, but I have far more important things to worry about right now.

"The offer is still on the table, but there are other clubs interested in him. He will probably be involved at Hereford, but Adam Newton has done a great job in his absence anyway.

"Winning at Hereford is all that concerns me at the moment and that won't be easy as they are a very good side.

"There are still many permutations regarding promotion, but it's simple enough for us. If we win we go up and that's all we are concentrating on."
