Kilmarnock substitute Paul Di Giacomo's late goal defeated Falkirk 2-1 at Rugby Park, while Inverness and St Mirren drew 0-0 in the SPL.An 81st-minute goal by Di Giacomo deservedly gave Jim Jefferies' side all three points on Saturday.
In the 10th minute, seconds after Paul Dalglish had missed the first of three great chances for the Ayrshire side by shooting over from 12 yards out, Pedro Moutinho's drilled shot from 25 yards put the visitors ahead.
Killie's Moroccan midfielder Mehdi Taouil levelled in the 24th minute with a deflected shot from the edge of the box.
And with nine minutes remaining Di Giacomo, on earlier for Dalglish, popped up to head Garry Hay's cross past Bairns goalkeeper Robert Olejnik.
Inverness withstood the dismissal of David Proctor to earn the point which makes them favourites to clinch ninth place as they drew 0-0 with St Mirren.
Saints would have taken ninth with victory at the Caledonian Stadium. They have another chance but must beat Rangers on Monday to jump above Caley Thistle, and earn an extra £70,000 in prize-money.
Proctor saw red for a professional foul on former Inverness striker Craig Dargo early in the second half but St Mirren failed to make their man advantage count despite peppering Michael Fraser's goal with a flurry of late shots.
