Blackburn boss Mark Hughes is reportedly ready to make a bid for Derby's Giles Barnes even though he is unlikely to be fit until October.Midfield star Barnes played a starring role in steering the Rams into the Premier League - but missed most of their disastrous campaign in the top flight due to injury.

The 19-year-old is currently recovering from a knee injury - and boss Paul Jewell admits he won't be fit until "September or October".

Rovers gaffer Hughes is ready to take a gamble on Barnes, though, as there is uncertainty over veteran playmaker Tugay's future at Ewood, while right winger David Bentley is high on Liverpool's shopping list.
