Clarence Seedorf insists AC Milan should not be ashamed if they fail to qualify for the Champions League ahead of Sunday's visit of Udinese.Fifth-placed Milan must win against Udinese and hope Fiorentina fail to come out triumphant at Torino if they are to finish in fourth place.
"At the moment the Champions League is not an illusion, it's a hope," Seedorf told Sport Mediaset. "There's one match to go for both us and Fiorentina. We have to win."
The Rossoneri slipped up away at Napoli in the last round after a 3-1 defeat but Seedorf has stressed that is not where their problems lie.
"Napoli did better than us, like they did against Inter, Juventus, and Fiorentina, which they all beat at home.
"It's not in Naples that we wasted our chance to get into the Champions League, but in other games before that.
"But whatever happens on the last match day, we have to know that in the last five years no one has won as much as us. We were the best in Europe and always competitive in Italy, even though this season we didn't do great.
"But overall if we look at what we did and what the best European clubs did, we have nothing to be ashamed of, even if we only get into the UEFA Cup.
"Let's be clear, I don't want to tell our fans to get ready for the UEFA Cup, on the contrary I am convinced we can still make it because we want to beat Udinese and because Torino have their dignity and will certainly honour the sport."
Udinese's Andrea Dossena has warned the Bianconeri will not be travelling to the San Siro to simply play out their season on Sunday.
"I have heard it said that while Torino will have to do its part against Fiorentina to maintain the regularity of the championship it seems that Udinese will go to the San Siro just for a trip out.
"On the contrary, it will be another chance to quieten those who have given us up for dead," ensured Dossena speaking to www.udinese.it.
"We are used to speaking little. We remain silent and look to let our results do the talking. This is the philosophy of Udinese.
"It is always nice to win even when just playing with friends so even more so at the San Siro against Milan.
"The confrontation at the San Siro is stimulating. The Rossoneri will be really motivated and will look to seize fourth place."
Bianconeri coach Pasquale Marino is expected to name an unchanged side to the one that lost 2-0 at home to Cagliari in the last round.
Gyan Asamoah, Felipe, Damiano Ferronetti, Mauricio Isla, Christian Obodo and Guilherme Siqueira are all unavailable through injury.
For the Rossoneri, Daniele Bonera will move to partner Kakha Kaladze at centre-back and replace the suspended Alessandro Nesta with Massimo Oddo coming in at right-back. Marek Jankulovski could take over from Giuseppe Favalli at left-back.
Midfielder Gennaro Gattuso is also suspended but his place will be filled by Andrea Pirlo who returns from a ban.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti is expected to keep faith with Seedorf and Kaka supporting lone-striker Filippo Inzaghi.
