Pedrosa Secures Pole In Le Mans

MotoGP Championship leader Dani Pedrosa will start the French round from pole position after topping the qualifying times at Le Mans.

The Repsol Honda rider, who holds a seven-point lead over Fiat Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo in the standings, set a fastest time of one minute 32.647 seconds in the qualifying session.

The Spaniard will be joined on the front row by American Colin Edwards, on the Tech 3 Yamaha, and Australia's defending champion Casey Stoner on the Marlboro Ducati.

Former champion Valentino Rossi was fourth quickest on the Fiat Yamaha and the Italian will be joined on the second row by team-mate Lorenzo.

The Spaniard, riding despite badly injured ankles, recovered from a crash on Friday to set the fifth fastest time ahead of American Nicky Hayden on the second Repsol Honda.

Britain's reigning World Superbike champion James Toseland, who was well down Friday's timesheets, bounced back to set the seventh best time on the Tech 3 Yamaha.

In the 125cc class Britain's Bradley Smith will start from pole after setting a lap time of 1:43.540 on the Polaris World Aprilia.

Fellow Britons Scott Redding (Blusens Aprilia) and Danny Webb (Degraaf Aprilia) will start from 12th and 15th rspectively on the grid.

Irishman Eugene Lavery was 17th on the Blusens Aprilia in the 250cc class as Spaniard Alex Debon was quickest on the Lotus Aprilia.
