Premier League - Tevez: I know I'm leaving United

Eurosport - Sun, 17 May 19:18:00 2009

Carlos Tevez has said he knows he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season and feels he has been treated badly.

2008-2009 Manchester United Carlos Tevez - 0

The Argentine is reaching the end of a two-year lease from his rights-holders MSI, and is upset that the club have not acted more decisively to secure his services permanently.

Tevez appeared to wave goodbye to the Old Trafford crowd when he was substituted during Saturday's 0-0 draw against Arsenal, which clinched the Premier League title for United.

Fans booed Tevez's removal from the action, and after the game a noisy protest took place outside the ground calling for United to keep the 25-year-old.

Tevez told Argentinian TV station TYC: "I know that I am not going to continue at Manchester United. I feel that they have lacked respect towards me. It's not about whether they pay £5 million more or £5m less, but I feel I have been badly treated."

"There are ways in which the club is managed that I don't understand. When you don't agree with the manager in how the club is run... I don't have faith in a lot of things that happen here.

"I've been here for two years and the directors have never come to speak to me. Not once have I had a meeting with them.

"Therefore, it's best that I leave the club so as not to clash with Alex Ferguson and the directors. Neither do I understand why I don't play in the team.

"I've asked (adviser) Kia (Joorabchian) not to speak to me about offers during the next 10 days. I want to concentrate only on the final matches that we have to play. Afterwards, I've got a month to take a decision and choose where to go."

However, United chief executive David Gill said he and manager Alex Ferguson wanted Tevez to stay.

He told the BBC that he had met MSI chief Joorabchian in midweek and wanted to strike a deal "if the economic conditions are right". Gill also confirmed that United would have to pay around £25 million for him.

  6. I think Tevez should go to Arsenal where he originally intended to go with Mascherano before they decided(Arsenal)they would not honour the clause that both players had to be first team choice every game, there is hope for the young Gunners as they comprehensively outplayed Man U at Old Trafford..perhaps a sign of things to come, but as talented as he is Adebayor needs to go, we have enough strikers ..put money on Eduardo next yr for top goal scorer.
Does anyone know whats up with Rosiczky...is he alive ..does he have a football career ?
PS Congrats to Man U from all that cant say it.

  7. 100% Heart, 200% Guts, 300% Hardwork.... In my book, thats Carlos Tevez. Fergie did his best to justify Berbatovs' 30 million quid move, leaving Tevez on the side lines... I think Tevez is making the right choice, I'm a chelsea fan and we need a player like you... Good luck Tevez...

  8. Despite the stats I would rate Tevez as more in the mould of a United player than Berbatov. tevez plays with passion, energy and is a catalyst for things to happen - whether he directly scores or assists or not. That's why the Man U fans who actually go to watch games applaud him so enthusiastically whenever he comes on or off the field. Fergie may have a master plan - maybe he has someone else lined up, or maybe they've run out of money - but I can understand why Tevez feels aggrieved - he probably expected a new contract before now. And hey, he may not score a bucketload but they are usually crucial goals which Fergie himself admitted after Tevez scored 5 goals in the 2007/08 successful Champions League campaign.

  9. I hope the moaning little idiot goes, why do the fans make such a fuss his first touch is rubbish, he runs into defenders with the ball, his passing is poor He has been a misery ever since he arrived at OT, when he does score he rarely acknowledges the provider, I think that he is selfish little bad git and should be let go

  10. Tevez has played only 4 games less than Berbatov. That is not a lot.Berbatov has 9 goals 9 assists.Tevez has 3 goals 3 assists.I personally would keep Berbatov.
He is not greedy, and he is a playmaker. The only problem with him is he does not chase after loosing the ball.He could change that.

From Tony, on Mon 18 May 9:58AM
  11. Tevez is talking his way out the door... best thing he could have done would have been keeping his mouth shut and his head down and get on with what his job is and let his football do the talking instead of bulling the fans up and running his gob off to the press.. utd wont stand for that.. player power... and managers really dont like it...

From DARREN H, on Mon 18 May 8:17AM
  12. Have someone ever thought that, Fergie could have been (just maybe) DELIBERATELY playing Tevez in most of the small games (Carling Cup and FA Cup), using him mostly as substitute, using him as "fourth choice striker" behind Ronaldo, Rooney and Berbatov, simply because Fergie wants to LOWER HIS VALUE (as his performance became lower because of that, DELIBERATELY) so as to negotiate a lower price with his agent?

lower his impact, lower his performance = lower his value, thus lower his price

Now, can most of you see why Tevez said he wants to leave?

From windwave, on Mon 18 May 6:49AM
  13. man utd have their way of doing things, and they are not going to change them for tevez, fergie knows with or without him,or anyone else for that matter, they will still be the best, man utd is bigger than any one person, even fergie

  16. tevez will stay and berba should leave... berba very lazy to move his leg compare to tevez and not good as CR7 as a target man...but we know that WC is coming up and player desperately want to be 1st eleven so they can make it to WC...SAF dont need to buy another player this coming season just sign young player for the future...coz mu always a great team in the future,,much better than LFC that only a history of European club and will never be better than MU or RM, Barca

    From harz1205, on Mon 18 May 5:32AM
  17. Yes, ManU doesn't show any respect towards Tevez. If ManU did, i think Tevez will fight against his agent and will stand by ManU side.

From Hansel, on Mon 18 May 5:21AM
  18. Man U and Fergie has done absolutely nothing to convince Tevez has a future in the club. He has hardly started, played second fiddle to a lazy Berba.. and now that the season is almost up, Fergie and David Gill try to appease everyone by saying that Tevez has a future in the club?? Come on!!! Given what little we know, I would tend to agree with Tevez, it's not about 5M more or 5M less, it's about being treated with respect... Expect Tevez and Ronaldo to be at different clubs next season...

From no name, on Mon 18 May 3:05AM
  19. Well, the scenario is clear. Good player. Greedy agent. Too much money.
Tevez has all the heart to wear a red devils shirt, no doubt. He has skill, and can score goals. But 25m quid worth of skill and goals? I dont think so. Either the agent will revisit planet earth for the negotiations or tevez is gone, simple as that. Additionally, the boss knows who he wants to play, when and where. It isnt a democracy and that is why he is so successful. If tevez doesnt make the team every time, well he is not alone. Berba doesnt, rooney doesnt, ronaldo doesnt. Tevez's results are not that great either...
