Calderwood considers Mulgrew appeal

Sun 17 May, 02:12 PM

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood is hoping to appeal against Charlie Mulgrew's dismissal in his side's 2-1 defeat at Rangers.

Richard Foster's own goal and a header from Kenny Miller lifted Rangers back top the top of the table, despite Michael Paton pulling a goal back for the Dons.

Mulgrew saw red after 18 minutes for an alleged headbutt on Kyle Lafferty, which the Northern Ireland international appeared to make the most of, while Madjid Bougherra followed the Dons player down the tunnel for a challenge on visiting goalkeeper Jamie Langfield shortly before half-time.

Calderwood said: "I've not seen Charlie's sending off to be honest. The lads on TV said it was nothing. Seemingly, someone was saying big Kyle was feigning injury and could have been sent off, but it was our boy who was sent off.

"I like (referee) Stuart Dougal. Don't get me wrong. I've had a few run-ins with him over the years, but he will admit if he has made a mistake.

"I don't think it was his decision to be honest; I think the linesman gave it. If Stuart looks at it and says he made a mistake, hopefully Charlie can appeal and we can take it from there."
