Alan Shearer blasted referee Howard Webb after he disallowed a goal from Mark Viduka as Newcastle plunged back into the relegation zone.
The Magpies were trailing 1-0 to Fulham at St James' Park when the Australia international headed home a 50th-minute Danny Guthrie corner. Referee Webb ruled out the strike for a foul on goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer by Kevin Nolan, although television replays suggested Shearer's side were desperately unfortunate.
Manager Shearer and assistant Iain Dowie confronted the official as he left the pitch, and the manager said: "We are bitterly disappointed at the disallowed goal. I have seen it and I can't see anything that's wrong with it."
He added: "Probably what has happened is the goal on Monday night from Steven Taylor has been highlighted that much this week that one or two people have thought, 'We might try to clamp down on that this weekend'.
"You are allowed to put someone in front of the goalkeeper - I am not aware that you are meant to get out of the way of him.
"I thought their player was blocking him more than Kevin Nolan was, so I am disappointed with that."
Asked if he had managed to speak to Webb, Shearer said: "Not yet, but I am going to try.
"I thought he got the big decision wrong today. When he looks at it, he might think that as well."

The Toon Army will experience high times in the championship - one of many highlights would have to be the midweek clash away to Plymouth Argyle, listening to those smelly brainless Plymouthians chanting 'cmon you greens'!
I hope newcastle do go down because they are @#$%.
Newcastle will go down and find it very hard to get back,it`s always sad when your team goes down but that`s life in football I have seen my team go many time as you have.
Alan Shearer would have never done the job to keep you up in the Premiership, all Alan knows is that you have to build the team around him! if Alan had waited 2 years before he went back home to his beloved Newcastle you would have had your name on the Premiership Cup for no less than 4 years.
Many of you will ask why?? if KK had spent the 16 million that he paid for Alan on a defence not a team in the land would have been able to live with Newcastle, you would have won the Premiership back to back then that was the time to bring in Alan and who knows the heights Newcastle would have reached.
The BIG trouble with NUFC is the people in the board room who skim off the cream (£`s) in the sack full, you have ALWAYS had to pay over £45 for a club shirt that cost the club £6.99! don`t let the club you love get away with it if you have vote with your feet, don`t buy the shirts or anything the club shop can throw at you!
I know as many fans know in the PL that fans of Newcastle buy more items to do with the club than any-other fans do, you have done more than you lot to help the club and look where you are going to end-up.
Let the club know NO MORE SHIRTS! SEASON TICKETS! or AWAY TRAVEL,lot of you may think that's a bit harsh but IF you want your football club back! then you will have to do it you have tried the other way and it DOES NOT WORK FOR YOUR CLUB!
Good Luck what ever happens I am sure Fan Power will WIN IN THE END....
Howard Webb should resign as a referee. He clearly has no understanding of the game and the rules. A ridiculous decision made has cost NUFC relegation from the premiership and where is he next season still making stupid mistakes. Who will he commit to relegation next year. What with Chelsea being made an @#$% of and now Newcastle. Surely we must start using video evidence and off the field officials to stop these referees cocking up so much in the future. If this is not posssible then relegate the referees to the P45 division.
Webb is a farce, he needs to get fired and some jordie fans Jook him up blud!
That Po - lice man has been vexing me since day blud! Allow that phassy - hole man!
WEBB IS SOOOOO @#$% THAT DISSALOUD GOAL SHOULD BE RE-ALOUD
Howard Webb era is getting to an end. There are fabulous mistakes this over rated ref has done this season that has favoured especially Manu. I think during the break he should go for prayers in his local Church for the Lord God to guide him in his duty during next season.
