Premiership - Arsenal managing director Keith Edelman has confirmed the board will not stand in Thierry Henry's way if he wants to leave the Emirates Stadium.
He said that the final say on whether to green-light a £15 million transfer to Barcelona rests with manager Arsene Wenger.
Henry has publicly stated his disappointment at the departure of vice-president David Dein from the club earlier this season, and is on the brink of following suit.
Edelman said the board would not block the sale of Henry, and would do whatever the manager told them.
"These are decisions for Arsene. It's his job to manage the team and it would be up to him. That's how we've always worked with Arsene," said Edelman.
"He will decide about the players. The board would be involved but we will do what Arsene asks us to."
Henry is perhaps Wenger's greatest success story, with the Frenchman helping his compatriot develop into one of Europe's deadliest goalscorers.
But Henry nearing 30 and a significant transfer fee on the table, the pragmatic Wenger may opt to cash in on his asset, as he did with Patrick Vieira in 2005.
