Latics and Potters chasing Klasnic

Tue 17 Jun, 07:00 PM

Wigan and Premier League new boys Stoke are reportedly chasing Werder Bremen's highly-rated Croatian striker Ivan Klasnic. The 28-year-old is currently in action at Euro 2008, making his first appearance of the tournament and scoring the only goal of the game as Croatia beat Poland on Tuesday night.

The former St Pauli frontman has had a torrid time with injuries and also underwent two kidney replacement operations in 2007. However he returned to action last season, scoring seven Bundesliga goals in 16 appearances.

Wigan are thought to have opened talks with the player but Potters boss Tony Pulis is on the lookout for strikers and may be ready to make a move.

Klasnic is likely to return to the bench when Croatia take on Turkey on Friday night in the quarter-finals of Euro 2008.
