Derby chairman of football Adam Pearson has confirmed the club are interested in signing young Stockport striker Liam Dickinson.Dickinson was reported to have been the subject of a £250,000 bid from the Rams last week, although the Hatters denied having received an offer.
But Pearson told the Derby Evening Telegraph: "I think we're just looking for a variety of players in forward positions and he (Dickinson) would have been one - young, quick and with potential.
"We need a proven target man. That's where we'll probably spend a significant amount of our (summer transfer money) and he is still very much in our sights.
"But Dickinson, certainly, is a player that we've put in an offer for. Their chairman said: 'well, why did we release it?' We didn't. We didn't say a word about it. I can only assume it's come from one of the player's agents."
