WELLINGTON (AFP) - Fijian-born winger Sitiveni Sivivatu has joined a core group of All Blacks who have committed to the New Zealand national side through to the 2011 World Cup.
The 27-year-old has been one of the All Blacks' most potent attacking weapons in 34 Tests, scoring 24 tries -- including four on debut against Fiji in 2005.
"I discussed my future with my family, and we decided that our future is here in New Zealand," Sivivatu said in a statement Wednesday.
"I love playing in the black jersey -- as well as for the Chiefs and Waikato -- and that's why I have re-signed."
New Zealand Rugby Union chief executive Steve Tew welcomed the deal.
"Rugby fans both here in New Zealand and overseas know just how much of a remarkable player Sitiveni is, and we are delighted to have him re-sign with New Zealand rugby," he said.
Sivivatu joins other key All Blacks in committing through to the World Cup, including Richie McCaw, Rodney So'oialo, Mils Muliaina, Ali Williams, and Dan Carter.
New Zealand rugby has been under pressure with high profile players signing lucrative contracts with European clubs after the 2007 World Cup.
