Real Madrid winger Arjen Robben will not be joining Tottenham, according to the player's father.

With a reshaping of the Real squad predicted in the wake of the club signing Kaka and agreeing a fee with Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo, Dutchman Robben had been linked with a move to White Hart Lane along with team-mates Klass-Jan Huntelaar and Gabriel Heinze.

But, in an interview with Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Robben's father, Hans, insisted there was no chance of such a transfer taking place.

"Absolute nonsense," he said. "We aren't talking with Tottenham. At the moment we aren't talking with any club.

"Of course things can change overnight but Arjen will certainly not join Tottenham."

  1. Spurs4lyf - I hate to say it but actually Robben is better than Lennon...Lennon has bags of pace but too often he ends up going nowhere....he may be pacier than Robben but is not as skillful or aware of other players around him. He needs to pass the ball more rather than try and go it alone all the time as this mostly ends up with him running into opposition defenders or the corner flag. But he's still a quality player.

  2. If Robben does come back to the Premiership i think he'd join United. I can see United making a double swoop for him and Sneijder later in the summer. Hintelaar doesn't like it at Real so he could be coming to the Prem as well unless Real do a swap with Bayern - Ribery to Real and Huntelaar to Bayern? ....If Tevez ends up at City then United really will look stupid and will have some explaining to do to their fans - how on earth can you let such a valuable player go? Do United really not rate Tevez? i find this incredible to believ, but it seems so. United will find nxt season hard without Ronaldo and rather than go on to win an unprecendented fourth title in a row, I can see them slumping to third behind Liverpool and Chelsea....and if Wenger continues his miserly buying policy and Villa get their act together, buy well in the summer while keeping their best players - and don't bottle it then they not Arsenal will get that 4th spot. My predictions 1st: Liverpool or Chelsea, 2nd: Chelsea or Liverpool, 3rd: United, 4th: Villa, 5th: Arsenal, 6th: City (if they pull on signing Tevez) otherwise it'll be Everton. Bottom three...Burnley, Wolves, and either Hull or Stoke (in any order).

  6. Robben's reputation is hurt by his link to spurs. But this show of egoism is fair as Robben is certainly a player of caliber who would like to play in champions league!!!!

  7. Robben is certainly a very good player when he is not injured. Moreover , he will move only to a champ lg playing team. I think his reputation is hurt when linked to cub like spurs.

  9. spurs always spend loads every season on players that never gel and they sell on making a big loss. and any top players thay have they sell to there rivals in the top 4. i just dont see the point in spurs, they will struggle to get a top 6 spot. so then redknap will go and they will be back where they started not getting any better just over paying for every player....wait and see!

  10. I may allow myself imagining Robben playing 4 Bayern Munich but with all my respect to Tottenham i dont think that Mr. sauce Hollandaise will be at White Hart Lane next season..However i do believe that Tottenham will cancel one of the big 4 clubs but iam not sure that it will be next season but they r really a gr8 and ambitious club that I really admire..

  14. It's a shame players only seem to move to the "top 4" or whatever. I get it but in the long term many of "these" players can't see past the fist post. How many have failed at "these" big clubs and ended up no-where?

I'd like to see teams get good players. Just because Spurs aren't consistently as "good" as the (again) Top 4 it doesn't mean they won't or cannot be. After-all Spurs have a long long history with Football, whatever the opposition think Spurs have had their good times.

    COYS!
