Tony Mowbray has been confirmed as the new manager of Celtic, replacing Gordon Strachan who quit last month after missing out on the Scottish Premier League title.
The former West Brom manager will bring assistant Mark Venus and first-team coach Peter Grant, a former Celtic team-mate, with him to Parkhead and current Hoops coach Neil Lennon will also join the new management team.
Celtic have given Mowbray a 12-month rolling contract and the 45-year-old will meet the media at a press conference at Celtic Park on Wednesday morning.
Mowbray's appointment finally brings to an end weeks of speculation about who would succeed Gordon Strachan, who departed after failing to win his fourth Clydesdale Bank Premier League title in succession.
West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace reluctantly agreed to allow the Glasgow giants to speak to Mowbray on Saturday after Celtic agreed to pay £2 million in compensation for the former Parkhead defender.
After Mowbray agreed personal terms, and compensation had been agreed for Venus and Grant, Celtic announced on their official website that the deal had been completed although there were no details of his contract or of what role Lennon will fulfil.
Lennon, who was part of Strachan's coaching team, was promised a role at Parkhead for next season by Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell and there has been speculation that Lennon would take over as reserve team coach from Willie McStay.
Mowbray's first job will be to assess his squad ahead of the first of possibly two tricky Champions League qualifiers at the end of July.
Mowbray will need no introduction to Hoops midfielder Scott Brown, midfielder Gary Caldwell and striker Chris Killen, all of whom were under his charge when he was Hibernian boss.
However, Mowbray will have to address several areas in the side and has already been linked with numerous players including Baggies captain Paul Robinson, Nancy striker Marc-Antoine Fortune, Iceland international Hermann Hreidarsson and Sweden Under-21 skipper Mattias Bjarsmyr.

Metz...Rangers said piss all for the last 3 years cause Celtic won the league...now you have ur turn at winning the league and all I hear is Celtic.....Are we waiting on the season ticket sales to hit a number b 4 the bomb shell is dropped?
Stuart,if you were a bear you would know that this is usual, same thing last season, and the season b4 and b4 that ,not worried at mo,wait till end of next week
Metz...m8....I am not slagging u or ur team ..I am just stating that I find it extraordinary that the team that won the double has remained so quiet....Celtic have not been out the papers...and i dont take it that Rangers are remaining quiet because Celtic have a better PR team.....There is something not right about the silence
Stuart, never said it was all happy at Ibrox, nor have I seen any1 else say that(maybe you need to up/lower your ritalin dose coz you starting to read whats not there). If nothing has been said by the start of the season,I will concede that point to you,but dont go countin your chicks etc,etc
Metz...I think u will find that we r a lot more happy with the board now m8....I will agree with u that it was quiet at IPOX over the last 3 years cause Celtic won the league and u were getting accustomed to selling players and bringing in others to play a season and then move on, however you won the double!!!!!! and suntan sam has said that you will lose 10 players....you tried to sell players in Jan ...no success....Gow, Adam are back, Thomson Edu, Lafferty and clubfoot will miss the first month of the season and its all happy at IPOX????
Stuart, the lack of information comming, our not comming from Ibrox is nothing new, this is something that we blue noses have gotten accustomed to over the years, the same happened last year and looked what happened,if nothing is said by the end of next week maybe we should start to get uppity, but unlike you,we have faith in our board to do the right things
Which one Greenock Morton or Irvine Meadow? I'm originally from Ayrshire... My big Brother used to work at the Maritime in Irvine and used to watch Meadow. My Granddad used to live in Greenock when the Family moved over from Monaghan.
metz got some news fae castle greyskull for you,the provie woman is well scunnered. she wis chappin the door for ages and got blanked. she could see the curtains movin, there wis defo somebody in.
HAIL HAIL!
Nok...you mentioned my local team and one I played for there in your last post...where u from
Come on r - You used to like Celtic? is that Farsley or Stalybridge? Real fans support the team through thick and thin. My Dad started following Celtic in the lean 50s and was at the cup game of 57...I was a regular in the 80s and 90s - Again not a time of great achievement apart from Centenary year - But always went. You support your team whether it's Celtic, Rangers, Ayr United, Morton or Irvine Meadow.
If you only support a team that is successful then you might as well support Man Utd. from afar like 90% of their supporters.
Well said Metz , i agree with what you say ! I used to like celti@#$%il now they got mowgli and now im putting all my stuff into a car booty sale
Metz the here and now situation is...4 get the past....Celtic have brought in a new management team after losing the league for the 1st time in 4 years.....we have money to buy new players....all positive...Rangers won the double...positive but all I hear about is Celtic....I hear nothing from Rangers apart from we are getting rid of 10 players...we are £27.1 million in debt....then nothing....why the silence? Surely Rangers should be bringing out news of who they are signing, sponsorship deals, CL football....no not a thing...is that not a worry...when Celtic did what Rangers are doing now the fans nearly burnt the place down....Rangers fans surely cant be happy re the silence....Again m8 this is not a slur, I am just looking at it as a footie fan
Stuart,we were told we would have to sell in january, but didnt, and still won the title!!!!!Again if it wasnt for wee fungus you wouldnt have a team to follow, follow and if it takes the youth to come through and prove their worth, then I for 1 will still back my team,I remember when you were in the 9 in a row run, going to Ibrox against St.mirren and there being more buddies than bears.I know all about my team being in turmoil,it isnt the first time.If it wasnt for Souness we wouldnt have the debt as high as it is,Methinks you are reading too much into this situation
Metz m8....the point is Celtic will spend again....maybe poorly, maybe not....@#$% we just spent £2 mill on a manager.....its the depth of the squads that counts and Rangers have already stated that they will sell / release 10 players from the 28 man squad...leaving 18 players....Season starts and the gers are without Thomson, Edu, Clubfoot, Lafferty...thats u at 14 for the first month at least....r rangers gonna bring the kids in then to defend the title???
Stuart you`re right bout the kids and I agree bout the pressure at both rangers and celtic and yes you may be better off in terms of finance, strength etc,but we proved last season that you dont need lots of cash to win,how much did you spend on venegoor of castlemilk? samaras?( a 2nd rate prince of persia double)mcdonald? and what did you win?You have to agree that money doesn`t win trophies, man city case in point, and if it wasnt for wee fungus magoo, what team would you be supportin now?We may be in trouble but not as much as you have been in your time and you managed to bouncy bouncy back, what proof do you have that we wont?
Hey Donald - I'll take up your challenge on that quote of yours.
Now let me think this one over really hard....
Oh, yeah! Who's won the most League titles, Scottish Cups, League Cups, and even if you like Glasgow Cups? Or has the highest winning average of any Scottish team in Europe?
Who's won most games when they go head to head?
Which sports team is in The Guinness Book of Records as the most successful of all time?
OK, quote '67 to me. Won on a coin @#$% against Benfica to go into the semi's if you want some facts.
Inter in the final played without 5 regulars who were on International duty.
My, my. We only remember things we like, don't we?
Metz...we all know that the kids are only in the squads because of the under 21 rule...the kids at Celtic and Rangers will not be "bloodied" enough because of the success that both teams must acheive. I would rather be in Celtic shoes than the gers shoes at present that for sure.....
Stuart bud,am not concerned at the mo,we no we not got the cash to splash, same as last season, didnt harm us then, besides,we do have some gud youth players watin to break through,Loy,Stirling,Forbes,Fleck to name just a few
Metz...u r bigger / better than that m8....R u not concerned re the silence from Ibrox?
#194 isn`t it obvious................... to give the priests something to do
