Madrid president Florentino Perez needs to sell players to balance the books of his summer spending spree.

Reports from Spain say that Gabriel Heinze, Arjen Robben, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, Royston Drenthe, Mahamadou Diarra and Javier Saviola are all available for transfer.

With few clubs willing to match Madrid's profligate and possibly unnecessary spending on attacking players, common sense says that Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool should back off competing with Los Merengues for David Villa, Franck Ribery and the rest.

Instead they should look to pick off relative bargains at the Santiago Bernabeu, many of whom speak English.

Even the likes of Arsenal, Everton, Aston Villa and Tottenham could get involved for the likes of Huntelaar, Saviola and Diarra, while Drenthe could interest mid-table clubs.

  1. if i were Chelsea i'd re-buy Arjen Robben, when he­ was a Blue we had more power in the forward, moreover­ now he's not taht expensive, it would be a great­ deal!
    I also think people like Huntelaar and van der­ Vaart will go in the Bundesliga, i'm less sure­ about Snejider, he could join Mourinho at Inter or play­ next season for Bayern Munich. Finally i think Heinze,­ Drenthe, Diarra and Saviola will struggle to change­ club but only not-top-4 clubs will buy them. The jolly­ is Van Nistelrooy because he hadn't played for­ about 6 months and nobody knows if he had completely­ recovered.

  2. Yes, lets all raid their good squad players they no­ longer want / can afford to keep. Some of the players­ on there are easily top 4 class (sneijder, huntelaar,­ van der Vaart and Saviola, possibly RVN and Heinze) and­ would be available for sensible fees. Other clubs lower­ in the table should try their luck for the likes of­ Diarra and Drenthe as suggested in the article, and­ Robben is class if he can stay fit. I think this will­ work against Real, as you need some grafters to balance­ the egos - exactly the problem they had in the last­ Galactico era. Look at Fletcher at United, he isn't­ really world class yet his contribution to the team is­ immense

  5. Chelsea needs to bring back Robben, who is the best­ winger available today. Also, they should keep a close­ eye on Huntelar.
