Naomi Cavaday moved within one game of a spot in the main draw at Wimbledon with a 6-0 3-6 7-5 win over 20th seed Angelique Kerber in the qualifiers at Roehampton.
Cavaday now will play in her fourth successive Wimbledon if she can defeat Vesna Manasieva in her final qualifier.
Cavaday is in great grass court form at the moment after reaching the third round at Edgbaston last weekend - with a second-round win over last year's Wimbledon quarter-finalist Tamarine Tanasugarn particularly impressive.
She has received wildcards into the main draw at SW19 in each of the past three seasons, but failed to win a match there despite holding match points against former world number one Martina Hingis in 2007.
However, the news was not so good for the British men looking to qualify, with Alexander Slabinsky, Marcus Willis and Joshua Milton all crashing out in the second round.
Milton came closest to moving on by taking the first set against Austria's Alexander Peya before losing 3-6 6-4 6-2 but Slabinsky and Willis lost in straight sets to Roko Karanusic and Andrea Stoppini respectively.

Just playing one match in the Wimbledon Championships means the world to The Brit youngsters whose parents, friends and fellow countrymen support Wimbledon, even sacrifice to keep it going. Why shouldn't they get the same chance that the French youngsters get at Roland Garros? Or, that all the others get at the events in their countries? Just because Wimbledon is the symbol of tennis around the world does not means that their own kids should not have their little bit of time in the sun? Some of you guys either don't know the history of tennis or don't care and just want your "little piggy" appetites fed your top players to salavate over or demean--depending on whether you liove-hate Fed, Rafa, or Andy. Loosen up, lose your hate, watch a movies, be happy that Wimbledon is coming. Don't think about tradition or the Brit Brats. Enjoy!
I totally agreed with Janice M, mysteriously these british players only surfaced in Wimbledon where they are given wild card by the host country but could not fight it out in the qualifying rounds. Maybe they are not good enough.
Just compare the British players and with Slovenia for e.g. Except for A. Murray and Anne Kheatavong, practically you will raise your eyebrows who is the 2nd best player ( male / female ) in your queendom.
Its time for wake up call, the association, union or whoever they might be.
I can't stand these englsih players, they only show up come wimbledon time because they get a lucky break yet year after year they do nothing with it, eating up money not taking the great faith the LTa has in them and making us proud, take away that dame lottery they bloody get and make them earn it. This girl may get to the main draw but watch her go out 1st or 2nd round along with all the other Brits, Sad, when we see nations that don't have the facilites we have or the money we have yet they make it purely because of drive and working hard. Every year it s the same thing come normal tournaments they are nowhere but Wimbledon they surface what for if they only come the lose.

I think you are on the wrong blog mate. Eurosport is for sports fans, not people looking for a hook-up.
