Wed 17 Jun, 10:35 AM

Sunderland fly the flag for the north east in this season`s Barclays Premier League and start their campaign with a trip to Bolton on August 15.

Chelsea pay a visit to the Stadium of Light the following Tuesday as the month is completed with a home clash against Blackburn and an away-day to Stoke.

Champions Manchester United host the Black Cats on October 3, Liverpool the next visitors to Wearside two weeks later.

The year ends with a Boxing Day clash at home to Everton before Steve Bruce`s side travel to Blackburn in the final game of 2009.

Other notable matches include Chelsea away (January 16), Arsenal away (February 20), and Liverpool at Anfield (May 27).

The season concludes with a visit from Manchester United on May 1 before a trip to new-boys Wolves on the final day of the campaign.

  1. cameron and co are from a distant planet, aliens no less, they will infect these pages and wind up cats supporters in the sincere and vain hope that it disstracts from their well earned predicament,of being relegated which they refuse to accept,a team of no hopers no manager no owner, small minded bigots, who believe are a big club, and have the biggest airport, more pizza huts kentucky and phone boxes, and will continue to support this club whatever, the imbecilic and ridiculous views they post here, are a true measure of their sheer arrogance,no humility or pride they would gain more respect if they were to gracefully accept their position and applaud sunderland and wish them good fortune for the coming challenges.

  5. Newcastle will be in the Championship for a few year, they wont recover from the relegation, whereas Sunderland are going forward with the full investment of Short, not too sure about Bruce but at least he can take us to mid table. I am looking forward to watching plenty of games at the Stadium of Light with premier league sides, it makes me laugh so hard knowing that the deluded barcodes will be playing the likes of Doncaster and Scunthorpe.

Bolton could not have asked for an easier start to their campaign; i predict a massive haul of one point from the opening 4 fixtures and the boos for Brucie will have begun.
