Crosby leaves Boro

Malcolm Crosby has left his post as assistant boss at Middlesbrough following a re-organisation of Gareth Southgate's staff.

Crosby, who led Sunderland to the 1992 FA Cup final, joined the club as reserve team boss under Steve McClaren and became Southgate's number two when he was appointed in June 2006.

He told the club's official website: "Gareth Southgate has decided to make changes at the club and, unfortunately, I am part of those changes.

"I am very disappointed after working for the past three years as Gareth's assistant.

"But I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the club, from the backroom staff, players and coaches, for making my time at Middlesbrough an enjoyable one. I would like to wish them all the best for next season."

Chief executive Keith Lamb added: "We would like to thank Malcolm for all his work over the last three years and wish him every success for the future."

  1. Mal, the scapegoat Gibbo said would never happen eh.

Good on yer Mal, sure you will find a club soon that will use your expertise.
Just wish the club will be upfront and stop the pussyfoot around the so called changes for the better.
FOR ME THIS WAS NOT FOR THE BETTER

How I wish GIBBO will sell out to a bunch of richer people as this is a great club, just needs more money than Gibbo has at the time.
Gibbo should never have took a risk with GS at such an early stage, now to save face they keep him on.
If we lose the first four he should be out the door fast.
