Leeds line up Newcastle friendly

Wed 17 Jun, 04:23 PM

Leeds will take on Newcastle at St James' Park in a pre-season friendly next month.

The Yorkshire club, with friendlies already lined up against Blackburn and Burnley, will be the only side to visit Newcastle during the close season. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29.

Manager Simon Grayson said: "It should be a great game for both sides.

"Newcastle are obviously preparing for what they hope will be a promotion-winning season for them and we are doing likewise.

"It may be a pre-season friendly, but I don't think there would be many people out there that wouldn't say that Leeds against Newcastle doesn't have all the hallmarks of a Premier League game."

The real leeds fans and real gordie fans have been friends for years! we're two very similar clubs, well supported - in fact the two best sets of supporters in the country. It's probably why we both have so many haters who want to see us fail.

This will NOT be a friendly. What it will be is a BATTLE. Blood on the pitch (perfect game for Joey Barton), blood spilt in the stands and defo blood spilt outside the ground. A comfortable Leeds win though.
