Oldham boss Dave Penney is happy to kick off the League One campaign with a mouthwatering home clash against north-west rivals Stockport on August 8.
The new Latics manager will hope to make a winning start before his side make successive trips to the capital to face Leyton Orient and Millwall respectively on August 15 and 18.
"A local derby is a great way to start the season and staff, players and fans alike will all be looking forward to it," Penney told the club's official website.
"We're sure to have a good crowd and a good atmosphere and I know this fixture is one everyone looks for when the fixtures come out.
"We will be looking to get off to the best possible start on home turf, but Stockport will be saying exactly the same thing at their end.
"The fixtures coming out adds that little extra excitement for the supporters and everyone here is looking forward to the big kick-off on August 8."

Let's hope we have a team and Jim Gannon back where he belongs by then!
