Gus Poyet has confirmed his interest in becoming the new manager of Swansea.
The 41-year-old Uruguayan has been out of work since leaving Tottenham's staff in October last year, but has admitted he is keen to replace Roberto Martinez at the Liberty Stadium.
"I would really be interested in the job," he told BBC Sport Wales.
"I would really like to go there, it would be a great opportunity."
Poyet has already spoken to Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins, as have Sheffield United coach Gary Speed and Aidy Boothroyd.
Should Jenkins opt for Poyet, it would be the former Chelsea midfielder's first managerial position.
Jenkins is searching for a new manager after Martinez completed his move to Wigan on Monday.

Honest or not, Gus is not the man to get Swansea into the PL. Look what he and Ramos did with all those millions, nearly relegated Tottenham . No thanks, better off with a good honest pro like Gary Speed who will command respect in the dressing room and on the pitch. Sorry Gus this one is not for you.
nice one gus at least you are honnest i hope you get it soon then put a transfer block on all the players
