Shrewsbury defender Darran Kempson, a target for Accrington Stanley, has left the New Meadow and signed for Blue Square Premier outfit Wrexham. The 23-year-old, who joined the Shrews from Crewe a year ago, was told this month by manager Paul Simpson that he was not part of his plans for the forthcoming season and was left behind as the club travelled to Spain for a pre-season training camp.
A statement on Shrewsbury's official website read: "Darran Kempson has agreed to join Wrexham.
"The football club wish Darran the best of luck with his move and thank him for his service."
The news will disappoint Accrington boss John Coleman as Kempson was one of his key transfer targets.
Kempson spent two months on loan with Stanley last season and made a number of impressive performances for the Reds.
