Duffy debut goal delights boss

Thu 17 Jul, 03:45 PM

First-team coach Paul Trollope was impressed by new signing Darryl Duffy as Bristol Rovers beat Weymouth 2-1 in a pre-season friendly.Duffy, who signed from Swansea this month, scored on his debut as the Pirates came from behind to win.

Trollope told the club's official website: "Darryl scored what I would describe as a perfect goal and, hopefully, we will be seeing more like that on a number of occasions. It was a great bit of movement to get in behind the defence and he finished the chance well.

"That's why we brought him here, to stick the ball in the net. He was unlucky not to score before he did but I was pleased with his contribution.

"He has found the training particularly intense, as all new players do when they encounter the way I like them to train.

"He is a little bit stiff but he gave a good account of himself and it is pleasing that he is off the mark."
