Ward: Connor has a good future

Thu 17 Jul, 02:30 PM

Carlisle United manager John Ward has handed teenager Connor Tinnion the chance to impress on the club's pre-season tour of Scotland.Tinnion, 17, has caught the eye after a rapid rise through the youth and reserve teams last season.

But Ward urged an air of caution over the youngster's inclusion and told BBC Radio Cumbria: "Connor has got a good future ahead of him. It's the right time to start pushing him through and we think he will benefit from being around the seniors.

"He's been training with the first-team squad and has done very well. You certainly wouldn't think from seeing him that he was the youngest boy in there.

"But it's possibly too early to say whether he will be involved in my first-team plans for next season."
