Grimsby Town assistant boss Stuart Watkiss labelled the Mariners' 3-1 friendly defeat at the hands of Corby Town as "dysfunctional".The Mariners started pre-season in lacklustre fashion and were behind after just two minutes against the non-league minnows thanks to Mark Warren's strike.
The Southern League Premier Division side went further ahead through Steve Diggin before Peter Bore netted and Tony Battersby completed the scoring for Corby.
New signings Matt Heywood, Richard Hope and Robbie Stockdale all featured, but Watkiss could draw few positives from the game.
"It was a poor performance," said Watkiss. "You could tell it was our first pre-season game. Even allowing for that we looked dysfunctional. The game served it's purpose, but it shows we still have a lot of work to do."
