Moratti: Lampard Unsure Of Future

Thu 17 Jul, 05:09 PM

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is torn over whether to ask for a move or see out the final 12 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge, according to Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti.

Inter have lodged a bid for Lampard but have so far had no encouragement from Chelsea, who are not willing to negotiate.

"Lampard is a very serious lad and certainly he is torn between having the pleasure of something new or having a sense of duty towards his current club. In the end it is up to him to find a solution," said Moratti.

Meanwhile, Inter have identified alternative transfer targets in case they are unable to bring the England midfielder to the San Siro to renew his partnership with ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

"Lampard is the priority but naturally in cases like this I have been looking around for some time," Moratti told his club's television station.

"If it is not possible to take Lampard, we would take a player with the most similar characteristics."

  1. to comment 5, David Platt/ Paul Ince? they both did well abroad. Lampard should stay cause this will be the most exciting season yet, the amount of quality that has entered his team with not much leaving will give them the best chance at the CPL. Also im Man U fan so Chelsea will fail but i like the Chelsea players.

  2. how often do you hear people complaining about foreign players in england, now think how many times you've heard foreigners moan about english players in their leagues. never, because there is none. in fact becks and linaker are the only ones of note that have done it in the past 20 years and becks only did it cause he was pushed. i think lamps would integrate well at inter especially with mourinho, so i think he should go. he would show the italians that we have excellent english players and they'd learn what english determination is all about, good luck frank.
