Ronaldinho hailed his arrival at the San Siro as a "victory" after he was officially unveiled as an AC Milan player on Thursday evening.
The long-running transfer saga to take the Brazilian playmaker from Barcelona ended on Wednesday, with the Italians beating Manchester City to the 28-year-old's signature.
And the former World Player of the Year seemed happy to have finally closed the door on his time in Spain and looked forward to returning to his best in the Serie A.
"This is a special moment in my career. I already feel at home," he said.
"Everyone dreams of playing for Milan, because of how important his club is. Pulling on this shirt is already a victory.
"My time at Barcelona was a good period, I won so much. In the last few years, however, we didn't manage to win a trophy. It became a bit of a disappointment and we decided to part ways.
"I'm very happy to be here. I want to come here to win."
Despite previous concerns over the fitness of the Brazil star, Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani, who sat alongside Ronaldinho throughout the press conference, told the gathered reporters he had come through the medical "brilliantly".
He also revealed that Milan's interest in the player went back further than last season.
"A dream has been achieved after so many years. I'm very happy," Galliani said.
"We have never followed a player for so long. Finally after three years of closely following the player we have done it.
"We've brought a great champion to the club. He will put the final signature on his contract later, but we can finally announce that he is a Milan player."
Before being led out onto the San Siro pitch to be presented to the fans, Ronaldinho revealed he was keen to link up with his Brazil team-mates Dida, Emerson, Alexandre Pato and especially Ballon d'Or winner Kaka.
Questions had been raised over the compatibility of the duo, but Ronaldinho was sure he could former an effective partnership with his compatriot.
"Kaka is one of the best players in the world and a friend," he said.
"I don't see any problems playing with him, it'll be good. I've played with him before and I'm sure it will work.
He added: "My team-mates from the national team always told me about Milan, they always told me great things and that fuelled my curiosity."
Ronaldinho conducted the press conference in a Milan shirt without any squad number on the back.
The Brazilian has famously worn the number 10 shirt during his career, but the occupant of that shirt at Milan, Clarence Seedorf, has already revealed he will not change numbers.
When asked which number he would wear instead, Ronaldinho added: "It's not been decided yet."

Ronnie is still an excellent players he just needs a serious employer like Milan.Am sure he will make wonders at Milan because he is magic man.Ronnie do your best so that you can became the World Player of the Year again.
Rolnaldinoh is still the best player in the world and milan will win the series a league and the champions league. His choice was good coz there is no football in english league they just adverst it alot.spanish league is much beta than epl.ronnie go go plse do your best we r behind u.i was supporting barca because of you.now am for milan.
R10 will get back to form because of a new challenge, Flamini will be fine in developing. I mean they play completly diff. positions and he as Rino to guide him and teach him. And for R10 going to a less demanding league, thats a crazy statement, yeh the top 4 teams are sweet, but thats it. The Serie A is a slower pace where passing and trying to break down the opposition takes more time because the defence is more solid and organized. Unlike the EPL where players and bang the @#$% out of the ball down field and the defences will crumble.
Ronaldinho is the man!!! Should have come to Man Utd. I know he's gone be fired up this season. Ya'll watch and behold
epl is a long ball league..very boring indeed..all they did is tackle the players and clear the ball..okay, except for man united and arsenal..
ac milan are buying popularity not a player, all the other players will have to support him, and flamini will not develop into the player he wants to be, unless ronaldino is a complete failure, whereupon flamini can play more then the role of defensive midfielder.
either he returns to the form he once had, or develops into a play making role of a player, showing his experience to control the tone of the game, which i can't see him doing.
zehst, your a bit partizan aren't you!Italian football might be played at a slower pace but its more passing orientated than English football and in a lot of cases more attractive to watch.I think this will be a good move for Ronaldonho and Milan and I expect to see big things from them in the next few years. And for the love of god can't the administrators block these @#$% who keep talking about matchmaking sites?!F**k off no one wants to know!
Ronaldinho u went to a less demanding league that plays at a snails pace instead of testing ur skills in the EPL. U had a chance at maybe becoming World Player again but ur Milan move will never make u the player u once were.
