Derby manager Paul Jewell has revealed he has made offers to bring "two strikers and a midfielder" to Pride Park - and is feeling hopeful.

Reports suggest that the two strikers could be Wigan forward Marlon King who would move on a season long loan, and Sheffield United striker Rob Hulse who would cost in the region of £2 million.

Jewell has already signed nine new players since County's relegation from the Premier League - but he is keen to strengthen his squad further.

Speaking after Wednesday evening's 2-0 friendly victory at Burton, Jewell told the club's official website: "We have made offers for two strikers and a midfielder that we are hoping will happen."

Meanwhile, midfielder Stephen Pearson is set to leave the club in a £600,000 move to Birmingham.

Robert Earnshaw, Kenny Miller, David Jones, Craig Fagan and Darren Moore have all left Pride Park already this summer.

  1. Derby will do well this season now that Jewell has offloaded the useless lazy players.Derby has a great following like Forest and Leicester whose supporters follow what ever league we may be in.Players want to join Derby because of the great support of the best team in the midlands.

Paul jewell has made a shitload of signings, so obviouslywe are not a @#$% club, and stupid swansea fans are shitty we didnt wanna pay2 million for their best player. hah
Paul Jewell will get king, as he is ex wigan also, and we have the willpower and funds to get hulse, who would n doubt love to leave sheffield for derby, as their promotion oppertunities are high

  9. well Helen you have just emptied the sum knowledge you posses of all things football in this post, reguardless of one silly season, Derby County has an enviable reputation as a family club that belongs in the highest league in the land. The likes of Marlon King and Rob Hulse are good players to get us were we belong, but be in no dougt we are bigger and better than either of those two and our expectations are high.
oh, by the way, we have already signed eight players this summer and double figures since january, rubbish or not, they are beating down the door to join us!!
