Cardiff manager Dave Jones has branded Rangers's bid to prise defender Glenn Loovens from the Welsh club as "derogatory".
Walter Smith has made an offer for the Dutchman, reportedly offering a swap deal with last season's top scorer Kris Boyd.
It has also been reported that the Ibrox club would be looking for around £1 million as part of the deal.
Sources close to the player have confirmed Loovens would be interested in a move to one of the giants of the Scottish Premier League - but Jones is not impressed with the Glasgow club's attempts to do business.
"What we have been offered regarding Glenn by Rangers is quite derogatory, to be honest," Jones told The Western Mail.
"The situation, as far as I am concerned, is that we have no need to sell any of the players we have and that includes Glenn.
"We are aiming to strengthen and build on the squad we already have.
"I have said that before and that is the way things remain."
