Sevilla have signed France defender Sebastien Squillaci from Lyon on a four-year contract.
Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido said they had paid 6.25 million euros (£5million) with a further 500,000 euros payable linked to variables for the 27-year-old, who was a member of the France squad at Euro 2008.
Meanwhile, Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano has been awarded Spanish citizenship after pledging allegiance to the country's constitution.
The 27-year-old Brazilian international, who arrived in Spain three years ago from FC Porto, completed the nationalisation process today, freeing up one of his club's three places allowed for non-European Union players.
"This is very important," he said. "It's a step forward for me and the club and all that's left now is to sign my new contract here."
However Fabiano wouldn't be able to follow the lead of Marcos Senna and start representing Spain as he has already won 20 caps for Brazil.
