Aldershot manager Gary Waddock insists his side are on track for the new season despite their defeat by Farnborough.
The Shots lost 3-1 to the non-league side on Wednesday evening but Waddock believes they will be up to speed for the League Two opener against Darlington.
Waddock said: "Although we didn't perform as well as I would have liked, pre-season matches are there for a reason.
"We are trying to get our fitness and sharpness right. I have no complaints with our fitness levels and we are aware that there are certain aspects of our game that we need to continue to work on and that is what the training ground is all about.
"There is a method in what we are trying to achieve."
