Stoke, who kept the Championship's tighest defence last season, have been keen to shore up their defence after missing out on Andy Griffin to Derby and Jonathan Fortune, who turned down a move to the Britannia Stadium.
And with Clint Hill suspended and Danny Higginbotham struggling with injury, Tony Pulis has swooped for two defenders in a day.
De Laet's move to the Potteries has been muted for a while and City have now completed the formalities of the deal, the 18-year-old penning a three-year deal to the delight of Pulis.
He said: "He is a very good player and I am certain he will prove to be a very good acquisition for Stoke City."
Former Sunderland star Craddock meanwhile has penned an initial one-month loan deal, which is likely to be extended until January.
The 32-year-old, captain at Molineux, is in the squad to face Charlton on Saturday.
First-team coach Mark O'Connor told City's official website: "Jody is a player of vast experience at this level.
"He has played in promotion winning teams from this division, and we are very happy to have him here."
