Richardson dealt double knockout

Sun 17 Aug, 04:00 PM

Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson was a double loser after Bury turned on the style in the first half on Saturday to romp to a 3-1 victory.Richardson saw last season's top-scorer Jack Lester limp off after 16 minutes and the game was up by the interval when Bury went in with a three-goal cushion.

"Jack felt something go in the warm-up and sometimes these things sort themselves out," said Richardson. "But after 10 minutes it was obvious it wasn't going to get any better.

"He's popped a thigh muscle but his injury doesn't excuse the start that we made.

"We started the game badly and I think that the story of the match was that they got off to a very good start. They were much more positive, they were on the front foot and put pressure on us.

"They put balls onto the top of our back four that we didn't deal with and we didn't get out of our third for the first 20 minutes or so."
