Norwich manager Glenn Roeder pledged to step up his search for a new striker after watching his side draw 1-1 against Blackpool at Carrow Road. The Canaries finally hit the back of the net for the first time this season when substitute Darrel Russell headed home from close range in the 74th minute but by then the visitors were already one up, courtesy of Ben Burgess' 55th-minute penalty.
Despite almost constant pressure Roeder's men were unable to grab a winner.
The hosts would most certainly have taken all three points had front men Jamie Cureton and Arturo Lupoli taken the chances that were presented to them and Roeder knows only too well that he needs to bolster his firepower.
"I will be working hard to bring someone in because it's obvious we need a big physical presence up front," he said.
"I have been trying hard all week - and I will be trying again tomorrow. I know the man I want but his club are being very resolute in trying to keep him.
"But I'll keep at it because I want to bring someone in before the transfer deadline. I don't really want to rely on the loan market."
In the meantime Roeder could do worse than push Russell up front after the way he showed his colleagues how to do it against the Tangerines.
"Darrel was very unlucky not to start the game but these sort of decisions have to be made," said Roeder.
"The way he affected the game when he came on was pleasing. He has showed our strikers, indeed all our players, how to put the ball into the back of the net.
"If I don't bring in another striker before next week then Darrel has certainly got a chance of starting up front against Cardiff.
"I don't do favourites. I use the best people available in each position and Darrel has done his cause no harm at all today."
Roeder was disappointed that his side failed to take all three points after starting their season with successive defeats.
"In the end it was important we didn't lose the game but this is two points dropped not one gained. We should have been two or three up by half-time but yet again we didn't take the chances that came to us.
"Once again David Marshall hasn't had a shot to save. Just like last week he has been beaten by a penalty but that was it.
"I was pleased with the general performance - we'll play at lot worse than that this season and lose - and it will get better once I've got the target man I'm looking for."
Blackpool manager Simon Grayson was pleased to see his side get off the mark, after also losing their opening two games.
"I think we were good value for the point and there's no doubt this is a positive result for us," he said.
"This is never an easy place to come to and we are pleased to leave with a point even though it's obviously slightly disappointing that we couldn't hold on for all three."
Grayson was delighted to see Burgess score his penalty, awarded for Elliot Omozusi's foul on Adam Hammill, but was disappointed with the defending that led to Norwich's equaliser.
He added: "All four goals we've conceded this season have been from set pieces and that is something we will have to eradicate if we are going to win games. But overall I'm happy enough with a point."

oh come on how can u say league 1 bekons after only 2 games , we hav been playing well and hav been unlucky not to win with the chances we create , Roeder knows what he is doing and when he signs someone who can score week after week norwich can only improve on last season
I,ve heard it all now Jamie Cureton going on record to say Norwich need a striker that can score goals pardon me for asking but what is he paid to do!! What happened to the proposed move for Iverson also the Ameobi fiasco now which would you prefer Mr Keegan 2.5 million for the player or let him see out his contract with Norwich on loan so he becomes a free agent at the end of the season hmm bit of a no brainer question there me thinks. Oh how Norwich needed Peter Cullums investment because the current board are offering nothing but I forgot its in the best interest of Norwich City FC league one beckons
