Slade salutes focused Glovers

Sun 17 Aug, 02:30 PM

Russell Slade paid tribute to Yeovil's focus in a week in which they knocked Charlton out of the Carling Cup before the 2-1 win over Hereford. Two goals in three minutes from Danny Schofield and Paul Warne stunned the Bulls, who failed to get a shot on target in the first half.

The Glovers continued to dominate the match until nine minutes from time when Bradley Hudson-Odoi pulled one back, but it was too late to stop the Bulls crashing to their third defeat in a week.

"It's very demanding to have three games in the opening week of the new season so compliments to the players, they were magnificent," said Slade.

"We had a purple patch between 10 and 15 minutes in the first half when we put the game to bed.

"The onus was then upon Hereford in the second period to come and have a go at us but they had a little bit of fortune to get back into the game. But I thought we thoroughly deserved our win."
