Injuries mount for Wolves

Mon, 17 Aug 15:11:29 2009

Mick McCarthy has described Wolves' treatment room as "emergency ward 10" ahead of the trip to Wigan.

Striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is sidelined for a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury picked up in Saturday's opening-day defeat to West Ham, while right-back Kevin Foley is also ruled out for a similar spell with a medial ligament problem.

Kevin Doyle (groin) and centre-back Christophe Berra (hamstring) are still not 100% and will also miss out but are expected to be okay for Saturday's game at Manchester City.

Full-back Stephen Ward and midfielders Greg Halford and Matt Jarvis also picked up knocks at the weekend but are expected to feature, while striker Chris Iwelumo (foot) and winger Michael Kightly (hip and foot) remain out.

  1. I fully agree that a raid on newcastle is probably the best way to go.
Their players are all obviously wanting Premier league football.
As long as thier wages arent ridiculous we do definately need a few more experienced players.
But must admit we've looked pretty good so far in these last 2 games!
    Come on the Wolves!!

  2. Once again no depth of squad, we are getting Mick to scrape a team together and its only the second game of the season! Why oh why do we not buy some proven players and bolster our ranks, and why have we got so many injuries this early in the season ?. A great show on Saturday and we looked promising, so come on Mr (tight wad) Moxey release the cash!

  3. How can so many players be injured after one match. Some of the injured havn't even played yet following the close season. Kightly has been injured since last season and is still injured, what the hell is going on?
